Duties of the Lubbock County TreasurerThe County Treasurer serves as the chief custodian of county funds preserving the system of checks and balances within the administration of county finance. Basic duties include receiving, keeping and accounting, paying, applying and disbursing as the Commissioners' Court allows, all monies belonging to the county. The Treasurer picks up daily tax receipts from the Justice Courts and the county collections from the Lubbock Central Appraisal District. The Treasurer prepares all deposits of county revenue and allocates those monies to the appropriate funds. Original bank reconciliation's and safekeeping of high volume county bank accounts as well as the cash bond and bail bond securities accounts. The Treasurer safe keeps pledged bail bond securities, investing cash and determining that all appraisals, insurance and taxes are current on all real pledged property. Other duties regarding bail bonds are maintaining records for the criminal justice system, reporting to the Lubbock County Bail Bond Board and receiving and disbursing cash bond funds. The Treasurer serves as Agent for twenty-two state reports and payments on certain accounts, and reporting to the Federal Government employment taxes and employment records; juror donations are recorded and disbursed to the proper Agency; unclaimed funds valued at $100.00 or less are maintained and all funds over $100.00 are remitted to the State. All jury checks are processed by the Treasurer after the district clerk certifies service. |
