What should I do if I need a replacement license plate or registration sticker?
You may obtain replacement plates and registration stickers at the Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office. If you are replacing license plates you will need to remove the registration sticker from your windshield and bring it with you. The fee for replacement license plates and/or a registration sticker is $6.50.


How can I obtain handicap placards or license plates?
Texas residents may obtain two permanent placards, or one permanent placard and one set of plates displaying the international symbol of access. There is no fee for permanent placards, and they are issued for four-year periods. There is a $.50 fee to exchange regular issue license plates for ISA license plates. Customers wanting to exchange regular issue plates for ISA plates must bring in the registration sticker for the vehicle the plates will be added to. Temporary placards are issued for six-month periods and are $5 each placard. To obtain placards or ISA plates your physician must fill out and notarize the Application for Persons with Disabilities Parking Placard and/or provide a written prescription. How do I obtain personalized or other special plates?
You may apply for personalized and special plates at MyPlatesCustomers may apply for collegiate and military plates at the Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office. You can find applications for these plates at MyPlates. Additional information may be required prior to issuance of the requested special plate.

 

I sold my car. What should I do? 
It is recommended that the seller and purchaser come into the Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office to transfer the title for the vehicle. If that is not possible, the seller should complete the first assignment on the back of the Texas title and a bill of sale for the purchaser. The seller should also complete the Vehicle Transfer Notification (VTR-346), however, submission of this form does not transfer ownership.

I am a licensed Title Service Company with the Lubbock Tax Assessor-Collector's office. Where is the form I use to submit transactions? 
Licensed Title Service Companies are required to submit a completed Title Service Transaction Form to the Lubbock Tax Assessor-Collector's office with each transaction. You may complete this form electronically or with a pen and paper. Previous versions of paperwork will not be accepted after February 28, 2023 and Form LMV006 has been eliminated.

I lost the title to my car. How can I obtain a replacement?
You may obtain a certified copy of your Texas title by either visiting your local TXDMV Regional Service Center by appointment or completing the Application for a Certified Copy of Title and mail it to: TxDMV, 1601 Southwest Parkway, Suite A, Wichita Falls, TX 76302. If there is a lien on the title, then additional information may have to be gathered.

 

I am receiving toll bills and parking tickets for a vehicle I have sold. What should I do?
Most likely the purchaser has not transferred the vehicle to their name. You can complete a Vehicle Transfer Notification (VTR-346) and mail it to the address on the form. However, submission of this form does not transfer ownership.

 

How do I renew my registration by mail?

I purchased a vehicle. What should I do now?

Visit TxDMV to determine which forms you will need to complete to register your vehicle at the Lubbock County Tax Assessor-Collector's office.
